Just got home from seeing Elvis Costello taping live in the Austin City Limits studio. Wow. Great show. It was great also to see Jerry Douglas (bluegrass dobro legend) in the band. They said the show will air November 7.

Crazy. After all this time, I finally took the plunge and got a macbook with all its DRM-encrusted goodness. Comes with all the silly white plastic molded pieces one expects from Apple. The aluminum case is terrific. Overall I am very impressed. Many configuration items are fairly automatic which means a good bit less tinkering.
I got a tip off from the TEXBIRDS list that folks had been seeing Upland Sandpiper around Manor northeast of town. That is a bird that has somehow always eluded me. Took off after work and drove around the area and managed to find one. Nice look at close range. Great bird.
